Question: How do you protect yourself from Rattlesnake bites while running & hiking?
I live in the desert so I encounter a lot of rattlesnakes while running & hiking. So what can I wear to prevent being bitten if I accidentially step on one? Should I wear 2 socks, jeans or something?

Well I live in Arizona so I come across this quite often. There is no perfect answer because you can’t predict everything that a snake will do. Here are some things you can do.
RUNNING:
.run on regularly used trails(aka wide/ well used trails)
.check to see online when your local snakes are most active
.Just be carful. You will most likely never or very rarely come across one no matter what any one says.
HIKING:
. If you are thinking about going on rougher trails or going off trail you can tuck you pants into some reasonable length socks.
. Carry a 1st aid kit at all times
.Have a way to tie something around the limb if you do get bit. Many people may say this is a bad idea and that it doesn’t help, but it does work on a short term basis. If you are going to have to wait to get to the hospital then it would be a definite don’t
