Question: What is the point of going camping in the winter?
I get camping in the summer or spring: you can climb trees, hike in beautiful weather, swim, stargaze… What can you do when you’re camping in the winter? I am going camping this winter, but its because of a bet.

From the last hammock video, got some new gear, mainly a mummy sleeping bag and a space blanket to try out. This video is mainly for newbies who are starting to get into winter camping or into hammock camping and are looking at ideas or learning from my mistakes 
Bad editing in this video, however some things to learn… 1. Getting into a hammock via a mummy sleeping bag is hard. But gets easier. 2. Space blanket didn’t work out as expected. 3. I skipped the liner, since I had enough issues trying to get in the hammock. I didn’t use the tarp, and the conditions were -3C with light winds. I felt the cold around my shoulders and waist area. The space blanket didn’t work as I thought it would. I might resort back to using the therma rest to insulate myself from the bottom.
Question: What are good coats for hiking in winter?
I need a good lightweight (not puffy) coat for hiking in below zero weather. I used to be able to find coats that listed the temperatures they went down to, but I haven’t had any luck find this information this time. Please include the temperatures for the coats or tell me where I can find it in your answer. Thank you!

either go to cabellas or bass pro shop. i think they are having sales right now on coats
Question: What hiking trails are really open during winter times in Seattle area?
Hi!
The Mountain Loop Hwy is closed, so many of the hiking trails are out of reach. Many people said the Boulder River Trail is great this time of the year but it’s not: I’ve been there twice now and there is too much snow.
Are there any trails in winter (untill May) still open? I don’t mind driving a few hours.

I believe most of the lower trails in the Olympic National Park are open. The Storm King starting point west of Port Angeles has multiple trails starting there (including the easy 30 minute Marymere Falls trail), and it takes less than 2 hours to reach from Seattle via ferry from Seattle or Edmonds and drive across Hood Canal Bridge and through Sequim and Port Angeles).
