Question: What is this song?????????
it goes

Joe calls Sally every now and then
He says “Cme on Sally, have a little sense
That mountain climbing is a silly waste of time
I’ve got a way you can skip all that
Get you to the top in minutes flat”
Sally just shakes her head and smiles wide
And says “I think I’d rather climb”

Question: (lyrics below) HELP…tell me the metaphors in the song “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus.. Lyrics below?
I can almost see it
That dream I’m dreaming but
There’s a voice inside my head sayin,
You’ll never reach it,
Every step I’m taking,
Every move I make feels
Lost with no direction
My faith is shaking but I
Got to keep trying
Got to keep my head held high

There’s always going to be another mountain
I’m always going to want to make it move
Always going to be an uphill battle,
Sometimes I’m gonna to have to lose,
Ain’t about how fast I get there,
Ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side
It’s the climb

The struggles I’m facing,
The chances I’m taking
Sometimes might knock me down but
No I’m not breaking
I may not know it
But these are the moments that
I’m going to remember most yeah
Just got to keep going
And I,
I got to be strong
Just keep pushing on, cause

There’s always going to be another mountain
I’m always going to want to make it move
Always going to be an uphill battle,
Sometimes I’m gonna to have to lose,
Ain’t about how fast I get there,
Ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side
It’s the climb (yeah)

There’s always going to be another mountain
I’m always going to want to make it move
Always going to be an uphill battle,
Sometimes you going to have to lose,
Ain’t about how fast I get there,
Ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side
It’s the climb (yeah yeah ea ea)

Keep on moving
Keep climbing
Keep the faith baby

“There’s always gonna be another mountain” is a metaphor referring to other obstacles she must withstand in her life.

“The climb” is a metaphor to life in general; a life of overcoming challenges and continually striving for everything you want in life.

well i’m not sure this is the best song choice, cuz there’s not a whole lot, but the whole chorus is a metaphor (that’s the one without like or as, right?)… she’s not REALLY trying to move a mountain/climb it, the mountain is a metaphor for her issues i guess.

“The struggles I’m facing,
The chances I’m taking
Sometimes they might knock me down…” that’s personification

I THINK “uphill battle” might be an idiom, but i’m not completely sure.

Lord Dont Move the Mountain-
Inez Andrews

Is this it?
(Sorry about the caps, thats how they are on the website I got them from)

NOW LORD DON’T MOVE MY MOUNTAIN
BUT GIVE ME THE STRENGTH TO CLIMB
AND LORD, DON’T TAKE AWAY MY STUMBLING BLOCKS
BUT LEAD ME ALL AROUND

OH LORD YOU DON’T HAVE TO MOVE THE MOUNTAIN
BUT GIVE ME THE STRENGTH TO CLIMB
AND LORD, DON’T TAKE AWAY MY STUMBLING BLOCKS
BUT LEAD ME ALL AROUND

LORD I DON’T BOTHER NOBODY
I TRY TO TREAT EVERYBODY THE SAME
BUT EVERYTIME, I TURN MY BACK
THEY SCANDALIZE MY NAME

BUT OH JESUS, YOU DON’T HAVE TO MOVE MY MOUNTAIN
BUT GIVE ME THE STRENGTH TO CLIMB
AND LORD DON’T TAKE AWAY MY STUMBLING BLOCKS
BUT LEAD ME ALL AROUND

NOW WHEN MY FOLKS WOULD SLAY ME
THESE THINGS THEY WILL TRY TO DO
BUT LORD, DON’T TOUCH EM
BUT WIITHIN THEIR HEART
MAKE EM GIVE THEIR LIFE TO YOU

OH MASTER YOU DON’T HAVE TO MOVE MY MOUNTAIN
BUT GIVE ME THE STRENGTH TO CLIMB
AND LORD, DON’T TAKE AWAY MY STUMBLING BLOCKS
BUT LEAD ME ALL AROUND

Question: I am going to give a presentation on a song.?
I need to analyze the song by finding a theme and connecting to the lyrics.
After the presentation I need to write a 1000 word essay.
The song can’t be more than 4min and I am finding a song which is not a love song.
I would like someone to help my presentation and finding a song.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
ex. I thought Miley Cyrus’s “The Climb” would be an easy one because it “Climb” is pan for climbing the mountain and overcoming a trail. Like this one I have to find metaphors and other devices from the lyrics.

Answer:

Dust in the Wind, by Kansas.

3 minutes, 20secomnds. Not a love song. Good music. Plenty of metaphors and symbolism.

Question: Is the song speechless by michael jackson for God or for the girl he loves?
Is the song speechless by Michael Jackson for God or for the girl he loves?
Is it a song for God or for the girl he loves because he mentions God in it, and plus also some parts of the lyrics it sounds like if its for God like: “Speechless, speechless, that’s how you make me feel
Though I’m with you I am far away and nothing is for real
I’ll go anywhere and do anything just to touch your face
I am humbled by your grace
There’s no mountain high I cannot climb”
or is it for like a girl he is in love with?

ps/ the reason i am asking this question is because i am going to sing two songs for christmas, Silent Night, and i wanted to choose a song by michael because i am a fan of his and i wanted to choose a song, and i am either caught between Speechless and We Are The World. but i wanna know about speechless to make an exact choice because i dont wanna choose a song that is dedicated for a boyfriend or girlfriend when i have to sing in front of little children, although i do love all of his songs.

pss/ thank you so much for the answers!

Mountains

Lucinda Jones workin’ at the IHOP:
Ten years worth of bacon, eggs an’ tears
She’s waited on every creed an’ color,
While waitin’ on this day to get here
Graveyard shifts, two big tips,
Makin’ every quarter count,
Was worth it all to see her son,
In that cap an’ gown

There are times in life when you gotta crawl,
Lose your grip, trip an’ fall
When you can’t lean on no-one else:
That’s when you find yourself
I’ve been around an’ I’ve noticed that,
Walkin’s easier when the road is flat
Them danged ol’ heels’ll get you every time
Yeah, the good Lord gave us mountains,
So we could learn how to climb

Bobby, Bobby Dunn came back from the war,
Lost his leg but they couldn’t take his will
Hell bent to run in that local marathon,
He trained through the endless pain an’ pills
It hurt so bad that sometimes,
He just had to cry,
He didn’t stop until he crossed,
That finish line

There are times in life when you gotta crawl,
Lose your grip, trip an’ fall
When you can’t lean on no-one else:
That’s when you find yourself
I’ve been around an’ I’ve noticed that,
Walkin’s easier when the road is flat
Them danged ol’ heels’ll get you every time
Yeah, the good Lord gave us mountains,
So we could learn how to climb

This world ain’t fair,
It can knock you on your butt
You can just lie there,
Or you can get back up
You gotta get back up

There are times in life when you gotta crawl,
Lose your grip, trip an’ fall
When you can’t lean on no-one else:
That’s when you find yourself
I’ve been around an’ I’ve noticed that,
Walkin’s easier when the road is flat
Them danged ol’ heels’ll get you every time
Yeah, the good Lord gave us mountains,
(The good Lord gave us mountains)
So we could learn how to climb
Yeah, oh

There is NO metaphor, it’s a god damn Miley Cyrus song. You REALLY want a confusing metaphor? Try “Paranoid Android” by Radiohead. THEN see how profound you think Miley Cyrus is.
