Question: What’s the biggest state park / hiking trail in or around Maryland?
All of the hiking trails and parks I know of are very small and close to busy roads. Doesn’t really feel like nature. Where can I go that would actually remove me somewhat from civilization?

I was following your question for a couple days in hopes of getting info myself. Since no one answered so far, I just say I know of a couple nice places but I’m not sure if they’re big enough for you.
1. Oregon Ridge in Hunt Valley, MD. Nice with hills.

2. McKeldin area in Marriottsville , MD

Both the above are good for 1-2 hour hikes (maybe 3-5 miles depending on how many side trails you take)
3. If these aren’t big enough, you can head on out to the Catoctin Mountain Park. There are many miles of trails out there.

hike from Gunsight Pass TH to Gunsight Lake Outlet. Even though I uploaded this to HD, watching it on Full Screen is NOT advised. Going thru the forest is a little blurry. Part 2: youtu.be Trip Rerport and Photo link probably won’t be up until mid-September.

Wow, camping at Six Flaggs? How much fun do you want to have. First you will have all your rides and shows to watch. Then after hours you get to stay in your tents. Are you cooking outside or buying food from the concession stand? Hide and seek in the dark in the park would be a lark! Enjoy yourself.
Question: How’s the hiking in Grand Teton National Park during the Fall season?
We’re hiking the Teton Crest Trail in early October and want to know what your experience was like. Weather? Crowds? Campsites? Any info is good info. Thanks.

If you have your permits in line the campsites should have spaces for you. Crowds will be less than in summer, but it will depend on the weather when you are there. Weather can be warm and 70′s during the day or snowing. It all depends. Fall can produce some of the best weather…clear and crisp. I would pack for being able to deal with a full winter storm…especially if going later in Oct.
