Question: How long does it take to hike at big bend?
I want to take off from work to go hiking at big bend, but need to know about how long it would take for the whole hiking thing.

The park is HUGE, so it depends on where you want to hike. It would take weeks to hike all the trails in the park. Why don’t you check out some of the day hikes listed on the site. You can also ask for a ranger recommendation when you get to the park.

Question: which waterfall is best to hike to for swimming on kauai?
I am vacationing on kauai this summer and hiking to a waterfall is at the top of my list for things to do. Which falls are relatively easy to get to, for those in my party that are not experienced hikers, and which falls can you swim at? Any other kauai suggestions?

On any long distance hike where you can’t carry enough water it’s important you have some way of purifying your water. Boiling water is the most reliable way but also the most inefficient and time consuming way. If you don’t like the taste of tablets and chemicals, a water filtration system is the next best choice. We chose the Katadyn Vario and tested it on our 28 mile, 3 day hike on the AT, Appalachian Trail. Very fast and efficient.

hike from Gunsight Pass TH to Gunsight Lake Outlet. Even though I uploaded this to HD, watching it on Full Screen is NOT advised. Going thru the forest is a little blurry. Part 2: youtu.be Trip Rerport and Photo link probably won’t be up until mid-September.

The purpose of this hike was to tribute to Harry. This was one of Harry’s favorites hiking spots. One of Harry last wishes was to have is ashes thrown into the wind here. The day was overcast and cooled. Tim lead us to the place where Joanie would throw Harry’s ashes into the wind. He gave her some detail instructions on how to do it. She threw his ashes up into the air, and the wind took his ashes away. We will always remember Harry for his humor, and endurance.

The weather was aweful on our trip to Wyoming, it rained, drizzled or snowed almost everyday. My sons Ron and Bob, along with Jim D., Ron C. and Ron C. Jr. first visited Yellowstone Park a few years after the disasterous 1988 fires. We hiked Bunsen Peak in the fog, we explored Observation Point in the snow and we hiked down Glacial Boulder Trail to the bottom of Yellowstone Canyon in the snow and rain. We then explored Yellowstone Falls in the rain. My video camera got wet a few times and sometimes mis-behaved. end of part 1 of 5.
