Question: What keeps you from wanting to go camping?
I’m doing some quick research on outdoor activities, more specifically camping. I want to know the reasons why people choose not to go camping.
Answer by MountainMan
Work. When I am at work, I am not allowed to go camping. Camping also takes hours of preparation to plan for changes in weather, food supply, and deciding where to go.

Go to YELP or Craigslist and read reviews or post on their message boards there from Portland, or any city in Oregon.
I suggest when paying for online purchase, don’t use Paypal, it takes just once to be a victim. I was and it took 3 years to get my credit. Use your Credit Card, always, they can help you if any disputes.
AND beware of international shippings, they could add 3-25% extra fees, even if they price is cheap.
Example: My merchant was from Texas, but the product was shipped from Hong Kong.
My brother-in-law and I hiked the entire AT in Georgia. It starts at Springer Mt. and ends about 15 miles east northeast of Hiawassee, GA. A total of about 85 miles. It was quite an adventure. We spent six nights in the woods and carried an average of 35 pounds of gear. We saw many species of plants, flowers, trees, along with snakes, rabbits, coyote, deer, chipmunks & all sorts of birds.

Question: How do you protect yourself from Rattlesnake bites while running & hiking?
I live in the desert so I encounter a lot of rattlesnakes while running & hiking. So what can I wear to prevent being bitten if I accidentially step on one? Should I wear 2 socks, jeans or something?
Answer by Micky
Well I live in Arizona so I come across this quite often. There is no perfect answer because you can’t predict everything that a snake will do. Here are some things you can do.
.run on regularly used trails(aka wide/ well used trails)
.check to see online when your local snakes are most active
.Just be carful. You will most likely never or very rarely come across one no matter what any one says.
. If you are thinking about going on rougher trails or going off trail you can tuck you pants into some reasonable length socks.
. Carry a 1st aid kit at all times
.Have a way to tie something around the limb if you do get bit. Many people may say this is a bad idea and that it doesn’t help, but it does work on a short term basis. If you are going to have to wait to get to the hospital then it would be a definite don’t

An electric fence around your garden should take care of that problem.
