Question: What big brand shoe manufacturers make leather free footwear for hiking?
I know this isn’t a food question but I thought a vegetarian or vegan could help. I don’t care for leather and was wondering what big brand companies (e.g. Columbia, Keen, Timberland), make leather free footwear that is suitable for hiking?

My daughter finds DSW, Payless & a few others carrying leather free products. I’m sorry I think you need to go on line or call the companies of those you listed.
Question: Which brand of work boots are good for hiking and will hold up?
I’m doing forestry work for 5 weeks. It will involve a lot of hiking and the weather will be wet. What brands of boots would be good for this kind of work? I’m looking for boots will 7″ in from the heel to the top of the boot.

I suggest Timberlands. They are quite confortable but i suggest you put a pad/insert in them if you are going to walk alot. They are waterproof and very strong durable boots. The ones I am talking about are long and cover your ankle.
Question: What is the best brand in camping air mattresses there are?
I’m going on a camping trip and would like to know if you have used a good quality air mattress that has lasted you for a long time. I’m tired of buying cheap ones and waking up on the floor. I just don’t know wich brand is good quality. Please tell me what brand you have used and how long it lasted. Thank you.

none of them last very long.
you could try one of those thick folding mats (i got one at Costco) and they are pretty comfprtable.
Question: What brand / type of hiking sock should I purchase for a hiking trip through the rainforest during August?
I am going on a long day hike in the el yunque rainforest in August and would like to find a hiking sock that is breathable, but supportive enough to be comfortable. Does anyone have any experience with a particular brand which works well in very high humidity?

winter or summer, I wear merino wool socks with polyester liner sock underneath
they keep my feet more comfortable than anything else I’ve ever tried
cotton is definitely NOT the way to go
Smartwool, Fox River, and L.L. Bean are the brands I prefer
I know wearing wool socks in hot, humid conditions sounds weird but my feet like it

Question: What is the best brand of hiking boot on the market right now?
I need to buy new hiking boots, i just want to have a list of good brands to look for when i go out to buy some. I using them for major hiking in the high sierras, and just for day hikes as well. Thanks for the help!

I have used both Vasque and Zamberlan and although I prefer the Zamberlans both were great.
