A hiking/camping gear essential overview plus a video highlight on making a four stick fire for boiling water in less than twenty minutes.

so the fam headed out to climb angels landing where we could have a birds eye view of the world tallest sandstone cliffs. I decided to bring my canon 7d, merlin steadicam (tough to use with the wind), 70-200 and a tokina 11-16. This was a special trip for leannes parents, so i really wanted to capture their experience. Darla had no intentions of hiking to the top, but to everyones suprize, she pressed forward! on our way we saw one of the endangered california condors hovering above. only 3 of us made it to the top, Mama, warren, and natalie decided to stay behind with zac (because zac wimped out!), and the old people (me, darla and bruce) decided to keep going. This is my favorite hike with fantastic views of the beautiful zions national park!

I’ll have to watch this later. But I’m interested to see what you use.
Keep the music! It made the video that you shot even more epic! Great choice in music, and the shots are amazing. I want to go Hike that trail again now!
@robbyzombie I have to respectfully disagree, I loved the music. This hike was definitely a life moment for me, and it made me want to go back as soon as I can!
@LonnyandDeanne The soundtrack works, leave it there! Beautiful place and great video!I was there last week and sad to say I chickened out at the last part.
Kudos to you and your family for carrying a baby and all the camera equipment and still completing the hike!
Best hiking video for Angels Landing that I’ve seen. Great choice of music as well. Very inspirational.
Awesome video. I love the focus on family and nature. Nice job producting the video. r/ Joe
@LonnyandDeanne No, I love the music! It’s perfect for that scenery!
Certainly an Extremely cool hike. Not so much extreme though. If there are handrails, old men with no pack, and children at the summit, that is a give away. Cool video though. Nice family.
@LonnyandDeanne This video is extremely well done! Thanks for posting! I’ve done this hike 4 times now over the years and every time it’s challenging and magnificent.
Cool hike–I want to do this someday. And a great video you made! What was the software? If you ever get to Hawaii–do the Haiku stairs. See my (poor) slideshow/video if you like.
TOTALY Amazing video! I Love it! I went to Zion in September this year too, we did The Narrow and High Adventure Canyoneering, one of my dreams! We continued our roadtrip later on the night and left Zion. Sad, but now i have a reason to return to Zion and do Angels landing!
About your clip:
To not make the video too mutch private I would have record more of the beautiful views and less on your family.
That’s all but gr8 video! /Jimmy
AMAZING quality! Now i have to get a 7D too i guess
@DTRAVELZ
You can do it in sneakers. I did it in sneakers and found it actually easier to do, or at least on my way up, On the way down it becomes a little bulcky (right word??), and there it was a good idea with hiking boots…
@DTRAVELZ
Hey great video. I happen to be at Zion right now , and I plan on doing Angel’s Landing. But I only have sneakers. No hiking boots. Do you still recommend it?
the footage is spectacular… this is just mindblowing.
This video is awesome !!!
Extremely impressive footage, fantastic! We did this hike last weekend and I shot some footage but was unable to capture the magnitude of the hike. This video was the perfect way to show friends what we think is a good time. You must have an extensive background in film, loved the shot composition, editing and soundtracks. I have a long way to go and enjoy watching and learning from people like you. Your family and son are lucky to have you documenting your adventures.
